This whole broke thing, the snake, the snake went down, the shell bidding, while the other stuff, it's just total bullshit. This is a tough one, he's back on eBay. He's got to do some collateral damage, like therapy, because that's a brand thing. People doing so many different things. And that's why when people are like, oh, the hobby this, and there's no hop. They're like, well, if car prices don't come down, this industry is ruined. No, it's not. You'll go to Goodwill and get these cards, you'll scan them and you'll use technology to help you. So I got some cards over Thanksgiving for my boys, and I don't know, maybe I spent like $500. And I come in, I'm like, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, take a seat, the magic trip. We're going to turn $500 and get nothing. In goodness. Oh, and scratch cards, there's not faster ways to do it. Welcome to Trading Cards and Collectibles Podcast on the Radcast Network. From Chasing Grails to Colin Bluffs, I'm going inside the hobby. Are you ready to collect? Let's get at it. Here is your host, Ryan Alford. Hello, and welcome to Trading Cards and Collectibles here on the Radcast Network powered by LudEx. We're always joined. Ryan and Brian here, Brian, are you in the final days? How many days you got left in that spot? Well, we got another week, and that's it, man. Things are getting torn down like TV. It's not crazy. You went through it last couple of weeks. Not fun. I'm just still digging out all my stuff. I had to find this guy. He was hiding, so I tried to take my stuff. What the hell is that? Number one, Rank Show Belt. Is that real gold? That's real steel. It's really heavy. That's awesome, dude. Congratulations. Number one, I tell you. I mean, you can come take it out of my cold dead hand. Or just beat me in the rankings in the business and marketing. One of the other. Both are very unlikely. I'm going to let you have this one. I got a couple of other things. There you go. To be the man, you got to beat the man. What's cooking, brother? Interesting this morning, an investor called, and he wants a card for his son for Christmas. And he wanted a Patrick Mahomes downtown in $1,500 to spend. And he wanted a PSA night. So I misheard him and I bought a kaboom instead of a downtown. Okay. Baboons are usually worth more than downtown. It depends. They fluctuate. Anyways, now I'm leg down a kaboom. And then he's got the downtown also for him. So the question for you is, what do you prefer? Like what would you buy? I like both. You know, because they're both the more artistic cards, but I'm more, you know what? I'm going to let Bill is going to go grab something for me. Something I printed today that's going to answer this for you. I'm going to bring it on screen. So this will tell you the answer. Because I'm doing stuff here in the office. And I'm printing stuff. We got a really slick printer. This is 11 by 17. Kaboom, Josh Allen. Custom. That doesn't exist like that exactly. I designed that. And I'm putting this on hard back. I'm like some custom of our own. So I like both, but I'm a kaboom guy. We need a Ryan kaboom. Yes. Drop in the kaboom, baby. I'll do the downtown. We have London downtown and Ryan kaboom. You know, like what make our own trading cards that become rare in our own minds? It's one of ones. So I like the kaboom. What are you going to do with that? My home's kaboom. He said he might buy it for his own collection. Wow. I might buy it if he did. It was, I mean, it was fine. I mean, I don't think he lose money on those things. No. What year is it? The kaboom was 24. And the downtown was 25. Yeah. Okay. The 24 downtown, I think it was 24. They had like a wolf in the back. They had a Campbell soup can. I'm like, it looks like a Disney lorcona card. Yeah. I didn't like it. It's a little wonky. They get a little, it's weird. They're either really kind of city scape, nothing, not that interesting. Or they're like, whoa. I can't wait to get the wolf. I don't even know what the fuck the wolf was doing on there. I'm like, you're not like from Minnesota. It's Kansas City. What would be, what would you? Okay. The Brian Ludden card. So we have Chicago backdrop. You know, what else would we have on there? I put Chicago dogs on there. Chicago hot dog. Okay. Okay. All right. And then I put maybe Michigan Avenue, like a nice, like winter scape. Yeah. And then maybe like something. It sounds like you. Yeah. Something stupid, like a fish. Collectibles.show. It's where you'll find all of the channels and learn more about what we're doing. And ultimately, hey, we want to hear from you. You do case hits at collectibles.show. What's you to send in your favorite pulls of the week? And here's the difference. This isn't about just value. Hey, we want to see some $10,000 hits. Had a couple of those myself a few months back. But it's not just about the values about what you're collecting. What means something to you? Share a story. Share a video of you holding up the card that you hit last week. It was your favorite player. And you nailed it. So case hits at collectibles.show. Send in those videos. I want to know the stories. We're going to bring it to life here on the show. We're going to do a segment each week. Once we get rolling and get some videos in. Where we share that on the show with us. We want to feature you on collectibles. Show. What's that? You're a red wine guy. Yeah. I mean, I don't discriminate really. How about you? You offer to me. Oh, yeah. Dude, I got stared at like bottles, bottles that me. You might be having something come for your birthday. I just want to make sure I had you here all live or not even live. But on our show, I want to make sure I had had you doctorate. I got a statement. Just for when you come to Chicago, we could drink it together. Okay. So Saturday night, we had 30 people over for a friend's giving in my birthday celebration. And we went through two cases of wine. And I probably had like four or five bottles. That's getting accurate, man. Two cases. I like it. That's true. You're going to do it. Do it on your birthday. How do you feel on Sunday? Average. Okay. Average to slightly below average. Dude, I was up to three in the morning cleaning. Now, what type of just, can you, can you sleep? Did you get like six or seven hours of sleep? Yeah, yeah. I slept to like 11. Oh, nice. There you go. All right. Now, I'm then sat a Sunday. We just, you know, watch some football and whatever. Your team's getting pretty hot recently. The Jags. Dude. Yeah. The Jags are hot, man. They got the new coach. Pepper's playing good enough. You know, he still makes throws that make your draw your jaw drop. And then he makes throws that make your, you know, your phone drop. Because you threw it. That's funny. But yeah, that coach's got to play good. Deepest playing good. Yeah. They're getting it together. Bills one. Beats a shit out of Pittsburgh. And the Bears. The Bears. Man. Unbelievable. Bears. Patriots. Yeah. I mean, that was, like, that was one of those games that we lose 95% of the time. Um, you know, but it's hard to, if you can't stop a run and you could run over teams, it's demoralizing. I mean, you played football. It's like, do you think those D backs and those linebackers want to tackle the non-guy again? No. Absolutely not. And it was, I mean, they're put a clinic on. And that was. How you do it against Philly, too. I mean. Yeah. It's a weird team. Like, it feels like they're missing just like. Energy. But who's the team to cheer? I mean, that's what I'm saying. That's the whole season's weird. Like, can't see his pride. I'm going to make the playoffs. Then what? Who do you feel comfortable? Like, I mean, maybe ultimately Philly again. I don't know. Hmm. I think they lost the mode, Joe. You think that the Patriot. I mean, Drake Mays real, but it's right. I mean, really? Like, he's going to, you trust Drake May in the playoffs yet. I mean, I don't know. They look great, but really? Who do you trust the playoffs? I think it comes back to my boy. Gosh, I don't. I mean, yeah, defense can hold it together. Yeah. It doesn't have a lot of weapons, though, man. Yeah. I don't know if he needs them. Now, he's got cook. Cook's not cooks the weapon. He can if, uh, border state receiver that we have. It is. Yeah. Coleman. He's talented. He's just not immature, I think. Yeah. He's just immature. He's funny, guy. At all. Before we get into some of the scans and some of that stuff, I do want to address something because we, you know, I don't want to be the show that responds to one comment, but I'm going to be the show that runs the one comment. The last show that we actually recorded or one of the last shows, we recorded like the day after this whole probes thing, the snipe disaster like went down. So the only knowledge that we had at the time when that show was, was that the tech went to haywire. We didn't know have the hindsight of the foresight of all of the other things that have come out since. So I think if you have, if you've been paying attention, Brian and I are not politically correct. And we are not here to gloss over anything. So we knew what we knew and that's from our own experience. And Brian's certainly most recent experience, my older experience in tech and IT, in knowing that it's a lot harder than you think and you better have your servers together. About all we knew was they didn't have the backbone. But since then, as we were called out in this comment, Brian, you know, the shill building, shill bidding, a lot of the other stuff that's just total bullshit and should not be glossed over. But you got to have the knowledge to talk about it. So now when we have the knowledge, we can at least give our opinions. Yeah, man, that was rough. That was rough. I mean, this industry in general forgives a lot. Like, everyone gets so offended by it and it's all over the news and they're like, well, they still grade the kissing or whatever it is, right? But this is a tough one. He's back on eBay. And he's got to do some collateral damage, you know, like therapy because that's a brand thing. 100% brand thing. But I just don't... People are so mad, like crazy about these cards. It's almost like they don't care because they just... The fever for the industry. You know what I mean? It's like, he's just, you know, he might be a scumbag or dirt bag for doing that. But I want that card. I don't care who's selling it. And as long as I don't have to over, over, pay for it. Who cares? Yeah, it almost seems that way. There's not like, you need the moral police in this. Like, it kind of polices itself. But like, it's something level and you're right. I mean, if someone has a good deal of the card, they buy it. You know? Yeah, exactly. But I... Let me just say, you've been in this longer on the news side than me back in it. So you know the players more, know more of the details. But everything I've read is just like, what a... I don't... Yes, all the time, energy and money to just try to fake it all into... Like, why? Like, it's... Even if you know that you're maybe Teflon because the industry is going to buy what it's going to buy, both just the time, energy and effort that they had to have put into what they did put out, it's like, what was... Hope is not a strategy. What did we think was going to happen there? Yeah, that's a rough one because like... I mean, I don't even... It's like in college. Like, I'd spend more time trying to cheat on a test. And if I were just with a study, I would have fun. Right. If they would have worked on their tech boards instead of worrying about shield bidding, then they would have worked. I know. I mean... And that... Again, I'm... I'm in novice here. Like, I'm not an angel. But I'm like... The shield bidding thing. I'm like... If you outbid yourself and then you... You are... You're... Confident or whoever wins the shit. And what did you do? You bought your own thing? Like, that's got to happen. It has to. Like, and I think Rick... Like, Rick will figure this out. And I think it's... He's back in where he should be. But... I mean... What happens? Let's just play. Roll play. Um... Yeah. You're buying a card, a kaboom. It's $800. Yeah. You want to buy it. I'm 900 bit. You put 1,000. I put 1,100. And you're like, I'm out. Yeah. And I'm like, shit. I didn't want this kaboom. Like, I talked about earlier. And now what I do with it, I put it back in my inventory. And there's no exchange of money. None. No. It's a... You paid eBay. Or whoever got some money. Money? Some fees out of it. Yeah. No. No, the fees worth it. And maybe... And look, it's obviously happening. And they're obviously making money. So obviously what we're describing happens less often than the money that they think they're making on the upside of it. I would hope. Yeah. But sometimes it does seem like people spend more time, energy, and effort, cheating to not do any better. You know? Like... But... Maybe they do. I don't know. They're probably... He's... Maybe laughing his way to the bank. But who knows? But it... It's just... Just do better. You know? Like, let's be better. Like, I think what... You know, if you want to know, what does this show stand for? Let's just try to do better. Like, let's be better. Let's create valuable things and tech, like what Brian's doing with LudEx. You know? Nothing's perfect. It's not perfect. But he's trying to make... He sees a flaw. He tries to make it better because he's playing the long game. He knows that he doesn't create something that has value. It doesn't last. And it's like... Let's... Let's do that. It's hard enough to run businesses. You've run a lot. Like... Yeah. It's... It's not nothing. You know? Exactly. So we'll leave that behind. On better news. Who's... I would think I could name them without... You know, if I didn't know them, who's popping on the LudEx app, we... I know we had the... The 19,000 scans. We don't know who's winning the record for the week. He and myers in Florida. I believe a guy in one day scanned 19,000 cards at the LudEx. I can't. But just so everybody's listening. This is going to be education, knowledge, and maybe a little bit humor. Get yourself a Rico scanner. Get that LudEx enterprise app when it's available. It is available. But when it's... Yeah, reach out... Yeah. You got to reach out directly online. Get that contact button. Ryan's wonderful team will take care of you. And... But get your scanner. And those things are amazing, man. Combine with the tax, leading those cards in, man. It's the only way to go. Yeah, so I called the guy. I talked to the guy. And I'm like, introduced myself. I said, hey, what do you got going on here? He's like, well, I got the scanner. And I go to a goodwill and I buy pallets of cards. And I just throw them in there. The 19,000 in a day. And the ones that are over X amount of dollars. He takes out the rest of the throws in the garbage. And, I mean, 20,000 cards a day. That's insane. Like, that's... What is that? Like, 140,000 a week. Which is... What? But, you know what? There's a random day. Did he say he was going to keep it up? No, he's got like, he's got like, 300,000 cards. Oh, shit. Yeah, he's like, I get 300,000 cards a week. That's what I get. Wow. But yeah, I mean, super interesting guy. Like, it just shows in this industry. There's so many different people doing so many different things. And... And that's why when people are like, oh, the hobby this. And there's no hobby. It's like all these micro hobbies and collectors. And like, they're like, well, you know, card prices don't come down. This industry is ruined. No, it's not. No, it's not. You'll go to goodwill and you get these cards and you scan them. And you'll use technology to help you. So yeah, it's just an interesting use case. Scans of the week. We got, we got some names. Who's up? Who's down? I'm going to let you guess on the ups. Yeah, I'm going to say quarterbacks. It's football season. If Caleb Williams and Drake Bay are on this list, then I quit. Ding, ding, ding. Yes. And I own hundreds of them both. Yeah, I mean, they're up. Drake May has been number one for like three weeks at four weeks in a row now. Hard and football. Yeah, and it's up. It's up 15%. And finally, Caleb's getting a little love. But honestly, Caleb didn't play great. But he's winning. He's winning. And the other one is rising. The card value reflects that too. It's interesting because they're both second year quarterbacks. They're both relatively equal records. But Drake Bay is 1,500 on that PSA 10 silver prism and Caleb's 600. You know? So. Well, I think it shows like this market's very efficient. It's a massive market, but people mostly get their information from the same source. So there's got to, there's, there's a continuity to where players start and where they, where they go. And it kind of makes sense to me. And like, let's go like down the next one's Bryce Young, which he has not been up here in a while, man. No. And he plays for the Carolina Panthers. They beat the chargers. They've been, he's been hot, but. He still kind of plays up and down too. The team's winning. You guys get better coaching, but that's something you want to track. Yeah. And then I hate the followers, but the followers you, I'm going to give you a chance. They are three quarterbacks. Yeah. They're not doing so good. I know Jaden's on there. He's on there. Yeah, he's got to be falling. I mean, he's not playing. And I still think he's going to be a star if he could. But he exactly what I was worried happened with him happen. Is he going to be fragile? And he snaps his arm or shoulder, wrist or elbow, whatever it was, it was arm related. Is he going to be durable enough? He's talented. He's still the most talented of the rookies, but it's, is he durable enough? That's the question. Do you remember like RG3? Yeah, similar. So this is the issue that I have. I'm going to throw a mixture of whiskey in here. I'm going to throw Josh Fields, our Justin Fields in here. So these guys, first year, they go out, they use all their assets. I run, I do this. It's their pain in the asses. And they have a good season. And then their team's like, hey, man, don't run so much because you're in the hurt and makes them a pocket passer. And that takes away 50% of what they're good at. And I've seen it. And I would just be like, keep running. Just run, run, run. Because if that's how you're going to make your money anyways, you're not a pocket passer. Well, the problem with that with Jaden is just he's not durable enough. And he can actually, I think throw it well enough to actually be a pocket passer. Now the other guys you named, I would absolutely put in there. And Lamar's turned into a weird case because I know he's probably one of our followers have had a bet. You are right. Yeah. You're crossing Jackson. He's actually turned into a lot much better pocket passer. And, but the team's weird. It's just a strategy dynamic there. Obviously this Lamar is still to me one of the best top five quarterbacks. Yeah, it's just like you said, there's so many variables that this league is so competitive. And the teams are very equal. I mean, there's not like one team has like significantly better athletes or faster players. Like it's not like the SEC playing like, you know, whatever. They're pretty much the best athletes on the field all the time. And then it comes down to, can you protect your quarterback? And if you look at these guys who are having tough seasons, I guarantee you, you know, there's injuries on the offensive line. There's no continuity. So, you know, it's hard to always put the blame on the quarterback. But they always put the the grace on the quarterback and bid him up. So they might as well take him down when they have to. Who's our number three baller? Geno Smith. Oh, okay. There. I'll put the blame on Geno. Those to me court to me. Interceptions. Like it's a lot of variables, but he's one of them. Sorry. This is a funny car because I had to check it with my team on November 28th in an auction. It's all for $35 on the first. Another auction. So for four rookie card. 2013 platinum. Geno Smith. I don't know if that's his rookie or not. That's got to be. She's been around a long time. And then number two. Come on. Geno. I mean, I'm beating on him a little bit. His rookie is going to be more important. There's come on. Oh, wait. Wait. If you listen. Oh, he is through another pick. That's funny. And he's the interception machine. I mean, if that card was on, you know, let's another site. It might have gone for hire. I could have shot. I could have shield build that one. Did that one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think if you hold, if you're holding any like mask lexes of Geno, you are shield bidding your heart out. Try to get those values up. And that exists on eBay all the time. Like there's, there's sales and ghost sales. Like, and it really hurts like a tech company trying to figure out data. That's why we're coming out with our own pricing algorithm. Like in a couple of weeks. But it's so hard, you know, because you and I can make a trade for $500. And we pay eBay, but we don't do anything else. Yeah. Exactly. We're funded. A couple quick news things. I know you get to go. But top chrome basketball coming out and sold out in minutes. They're doing some Dutch auctions on some of the other stuff. And boxes that started at like 700, 800 retail Dutch auctioning starting at 35. 100. Jeez. No hate on tops here. This is bored. It's like, wow. Like, I don't know. It's like these numbers are crazy. That's yeah. That's insane. I mean, again, it goes back like people are going to bitch about it and be like, oh, the industry is ruined. Finax is ruined in the industry. Well, not really. Those cards will get out to the ether and people buy singles. But I mean, ripping this is so. So I got some cards over Thanksgiving for my boys. And I don't know. Maybe I spent like $500. Right. And I come in. I'm like, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, take a seat. The magic trick. We're going to turn $500 into nothing. Yeah. In minutes. Oh, it's scratch cards. There's not faster ways to do it. I mean, it's really what I lost in real life. Did you get anything? No. We actually did. Oh, my son. Okay. Yeah. My son got a bonus. I don't know. What was some card? $300 raw. Whoa. Hey. Hey, done. You can't beat up on the cost and then get a $300 card in there. Come on, man. No, I think you're right. I should. His cost of face was zero. So he did really well. Hey, he did great. Man, I'm not sure dad did any better. But it's more joy if you're son getting it. Oh, yeah. And, um, hey. And you miss every shot you don't take. Yep. That's it. I'm going to put that up. I'm going to put that up in my card shop here. It's every shot you don't take. Yeah. I forget how strict that. It's a great quote though. Yeah. I don't remember. It wasn't me. But I am. I'm playing with this concept. We're going to have a pack bar. Flites of packs. Flites you want. You told me that the other day. That's freaking amazing. I love that. Yes. It's going to be cool. I've expounded. You know, and not one night's rest and more ideas in the brain. Yeah. We were going to have to keep that tonight. So that's a great work for creating. Yeah. But yeah, man. Any other final thoughts for let's get to your meeting. No, I just like, when you went to shop, what's it looking like for you? Um, I, I plan to open soft opening this month. Two or three weeks, maybe right before the Christmas, like soft opening, like a few days a week. Just. and you know, not a grand opening, but like a soft opening. And do like a grand opening mid to end to mid January, late January. Also, some things think that gets some, you know, overpaid inventory worked out. You're a very efficient person. So, you know, I assumed it was gonna be sooner than later. Hey, man, I moved, man. Not me. You're, you're efficient. You're inefficiently efficient. No, it is moving big, you do a bigger things, you know, like I just, I do like a thousand small things and, you know, like, you got like two behemoths, you know. Feel like that sometimes. I know. But cool, man. Good luck with everything. Let me know how Walmart goes. I will. Big names, big people, big me, hey, I thought we're talking, hey, big things happen in here with LudEx and creating cards and collectibles. Appreciate you brother. Oh, it's pleasure.
