But there's one on here that is a little surprising. Drake May and the trending players it went from our third most popular person's skin to number two. They probably get lost on some people, but I have a feeling it takes a lot to make that happen. It does. If you look at the top 10, there's like Jordan is always in there, the bronze in there, but like for a player like this to move that much up, it's just showing how aggressive people are buying this stuff. Talk to me about the Otani baseball. Oh, dude. There's no one on the planet doing what he's doing. And there's no one on the planet ever. This is Major League Baseball. That alone. Three whole runs in a game. It is unhuman. Welcome to the Trading Cards and Collectibles podcast on the Radcast Network. From Chasing Grails to Colin Bluffs, I'm going inside the hobby. Are you ready to collect? Let's get at it. Here is your host, Ryan Alford. What's up, guys? Welcome to Trading Cards and Collectibles powered by LudEx. Here's always my good friend, my co-host, Ryan Ludden. What's up, Brian? That's something, man. I know you've had a busy week moving offices, so we get to see a different background for you, but yeah, things are good. You know, these weeks just run into weeks and weeks run into months, and it's just one big blur. It is a blur right now. You're seeing the temporary radio in the new space, rearranging things, getting everything in order. I had to put one thing up, just have a little color. I got my old rad pillows, but then Jordan with a little color match, and you know, I've got the Kuhny over here, and of course, if I need something to drink, I've got my LudEx, water bottle, but we'll be decorating. It is a little bit of a mess, but it's coming along. It's coming along. That's awesome. You're in the cage. I mean, the sports cage. I like to mix it up a bit. Last week, I was on in Texas, but this is our main conference, so what we did is we threw astroturf on the wall, and then the chainling fences, like the old baseball. So we got some good literature. Living the brand, brand, you know, the sports brand to astroturf. You got any ACL injury photos on the wall? They figured that out. Obviously, the old astroturf, like, everyone seemed to like tear the ACL. So that like the 90s or late 80s. I don't think anyone's going to be walking on these walls or walking on the wall. Maybe all good on the wall. How's the side town this week? That's good, man. This is like the weather is so nice in the fall. It's so nice. It's 60 degrees, and I love this time of year. I think our nicest months are September, October, and then we have to hunker down for the winter, but hopefully I can get to some place warm a few times, maybe do some fishing, ride off golf. I'm terrible at it. But yeah, so hopefully we want to get out of the city for four or five months, and then I love it. And here's the difference. This isn't about just value. Hey, we want to see some $10,000 hits. Had a couple of those myself a few months back, but it's not just about the values about what you're collecting. What means something to you? Share a story. Share a video of you holding up the card that you hit last week. That was your favorite player and you nailed it. So case hits, collectibles.show, send in those videos. I want to know the stories. We're going to bring them to life here on the show. We're going to do a segment each week once we get rolling and get some videos in where we share that on the show with us. We want to feature you on collectibles. Show. I mean, a subtle jab, but you know, you don't have to worry about, you know, posties and baseball or anything, you know, so yeah, thank God. Yeah, I have no posties and baseball here in South Carolina. So I, you know, our bears are one-four in a row. Dude, I'm telling you, I mean, coaching matters and I can't help but think, and there's a lot of dudes on that team. I mean, it's a talented team. Caleb's playing good enough and coming along. He doesn't turn the ball over. He's not always perfect. I thought he was going to be more accurate, but he's taking care of the ball and then everybody else is balling and I can't help but think there's coaching is playing a factor as well as I feel that way to you. Yeah, I mean, it's changing the culture and it takes a little time, but unfortunately, the bears are in a hell of a division. I mean, the lions look tough as hell. The packers look great. So we'll see, man, but our last four games are like, the last four games three or four are at home and it's the packers twice and the lions. That's how we end the season. So we might have an inflated record for a bit and then you're like, all right, dude. So yeah, I know it's brutal and the packers are good and, you know, you don't much sit on, you know, I just like care for them. I know a good team when I see it and it's, but I'm just Caleb playing well and his cards keep going up. I'll be just fine. As stated many times, I hold many of the rookies from last year and I think no better time to get into our weekly movers, powered by LudEx, because there are, it's quarterback driven this week if my notes are correct, right, Ryan? Yep, you are correct. But there's one on here that is a little surprising, but I'll let you decide. So silver, prison, Drake, May, so it's up 21%. And on the trending players, it went from our third most popular person scan to number two last week. Is that number one? It takes significant mood. That probably gets lost on some people, but I have a feeling it takes a lot to make that happen. It does. Like it's pretty crazy when you go into it. Like if you look at the top 10, there's Jordan is always in there, LeBron's in there, but like for a player like this to move that much off, this is showing how, you know, how aggressive people are buying a stuff. The second one is, I think he's one of the best quarterbacks to play Matthew Stafford. He's up 43%. So, and he went from like 120 trending player to 62, but that surprises me a little. Yeah, I mean, he's playing well. I mean, if you watch, I mean, he picked a part of my boys, you know, the Jaguars with Trevor Lawrence. I mean, I don't know what's going on there. Let's focus on the positives of Matthew Stafford. Georgia boy, dude, still got probably the top three arm in the league. I mean, ridiculous, can throw it, you know, 100 yards in the air, but to touch. And I almost think he was kind of a little bit of a hot, that hot head. I almost feel like he's at this perfect mellow point. Still has all the skill set as a quarterback hadn't hadn't gotten hit a ton, you know, like some quarterbacks. So all the arms shrink there. He's mellowed out. He's a good leader. And dude can just sling the damn ball. Yeah, think about that trade. I mean, he traded golf for Stafford. And they both won. Yeah, golf. I mean, call me crazy. If he held this up, he could be at all time. I mean, you know, like two guys that just improved on the move. It rarely happens. It sometimes it never did work either direction. But for both, you know, being high in quarterbacks and Matthew's definitely another category at the time of the trade and probably even now overall with a Super Bowl and everything like that. But I mean, it isn't interesting to see him jump, though, because there hasn't he's played well in their winning. But I don't know what necessarily, you know, made that happen. Drake make makes a ton of sense and good for him. And I keep going. I got a ton of him. I'm sticking through every card. I got his and like, go, baby, go. He looks really good. I would have not did not think the Patriots would be quite as good as they are so far. But I don't know. They're looking good. Yeah, I want them to suffer a little bit. Yeah, exactly. They need a little more downtime. Yeah. In the last one, in the last one, should not surprise you, it's Daniel Jones. He went from, he's up 67%. And then he went from 90 up to 40 on the trending players. I mean, what he's doing there is amazing. But yeah, I mean, there's probably, like you said, there's probably people looking through their stuff, me like holy shit, 2019. I wonder if I have any of these Daniel Jones. How many Daniel Jones doggers have been pulled out of boxes that, you know, it was probably a $10 $5 card, like, I don't know, two years ago, maybe. And now it's at $325. And dude, looks like a different player. I mean, I'd like a lot of these guys to get drafted the first round. You know the skill sets in there. They wouldn't have got a lot of smart people draft these guys. But you just, you're sort of at a certain point, throw the book it. You just go, I don't think it's going to happen for him. And he has done it. Like, the cults are loaded. Yeah, they got, I mean, they are loaded. And I think the quarterback position is an interesting position because it's, you know, you come out, you're gun slinging, you have an ego, you have pride, and then also you realize that you're going to have to recommit yourself to learning football and how to play in NFL. And the good ones do. And, you know, I root for guys like that. But here's an interesting, if you comparison, is the 2024 Panini Prism Silver Drake May PSA 10 sold for $930. Daniel Jones PSA 10, same, he prism, 325. Yeah, make sense of that one. Here's, you have, I think it's purely the holdover from maybe the overvalue of like the newest rookies. Like, Drake May didn't have the three years to level out, four years to level out. And then to take a jump, you know, so Daniel Jones did what, you know, rookie, he's probably, I mean, rookie year, you know, probably had the normal jump and then just crack, you know, train wreck from there, dumpster fire in New York. And now he's doing the four rebound. But he could be, look, if, let's just say they considered you this on, this would be fascinating to follow. If he stayed, let's say they're like 16 and two, or I think they're 18 games, you're like 15 and three, like, let's just say they have best record in the league. Whatever that is, super, super high win total. Could it be a $900 car about the end of the year? I mean, the market, they'll catch up quick, man. If he wins, you know, games, I mean, you know, and they get to play off, and they win, the thing's going to go up. But I think it got to be around him that I think it's, part of me was like, because I almost bought several of these, Kubwiska, which I had now. But I still think it's a buy, underfiring, because I think they got to do, I don't think he has to necessarily play a 10 out of 10 every week for them to win. He doesn't turn the ball over. They get a lot of do. They got to running back, Taylor. I mean, Lon's scrimmage are dominant. I mean, like, they got the guys that I think to support him, not necessarily having to play like a 10. And he keeps doing just remotely what he's doing. I think you're going to see five to 700, at least a couple of years in. Yeah, I agree. And it makes it interesting, because there's people that, you know, their whole philosophy is trying to buy these guys, you know, cheap, like my son, my son Nick does that, like he'll start a season and buy five to eight people that have some upside. And you know, it's a whole new, it's a whole other way to enjoy this, this industry, this great industry. Exactly. So I mean, you can kind of blend the collecting with, with the, I don't know, entrepreneurial spirit. I think there's, as long as there's a blend, I think that's, you know, what I like to see. I got a question for you. Yeah. Tell me, but talk to me about the Otani baseball. Oh, dude. I mean, here's what I think. First, let me talk like 70,000 feet, and then we'll come down to like ground floor. I don't think that we're making a big, enough deal about it. Like, I mean, I get the, they still got a lot to play for. And like, you don't want to over celebrate, like you want to appreciate the moment, but keep focus on, like, the playoffs and one of the championship team. I'm a team guy. But what he did in pit, like number one, there's no one on the planet doing what he's doing. And there's no one on the planet ever. I don't, I mean, I get it. Yo, you bear it. Like, are these kids? Whoever, well, I mean, that didn't go. Babe Ruth. Yeah, like, yeah. But still still. You said, okay, so two guys ever, I mean, and three home runs in modern era and six, what squirrels, what one running, what was it? Like, ridiculous. There's a shutout. So six and two thirds, struck out 10 people and gave up two hits, but hit three home runs. I mean, Babe Ruth has never done anything. Ever done that? Yeah. 10 strikeouts to three home runs and four. Yeah. I mean, that's like literally shit. Yeah. Like, that's happening, but it's happening at 13 years old, you know, like, not in with the best players in the world. Nash hit four home runs in his, like, whatever's right coaches pitch game four years ago. And I knew what it was and what it was. He doesn't even play baseball anymore. So, you're tired. What it was, what it wasn't, you know, and he didn't hit it out of the park. I mean, they were, they're grounders that ran, you know, or even really well hit balls, but not he was just, you know, I'm saying, I know what that was and wasn't. This is major league baseball. It's major league pitching and hitting three home runs that alone, three home runs in a game, in the playoffs that matter is unheard of, but then throwing in the pitching, it is unhuman. Like, yeah. And so, again, bringing it back to the ground floor, like, it's just incredible. And I don't know that we can even really appreciate it at the level that it deserves. Yeah, I agree. And let's like try to find a comparison in the NBA. It'd be like Jordan scoring 100 points in game seven. Like, that's how like, monumental. But then he also did something else. Like, I don't know. He's sold hot dogs or something like 100 points still doesn't bring me to the Otani low. No. And bogey, that's why I love Bo Jackson and collect, have a lot of his old cards. He was the closest dump. He had played high level baseball, but he was an Otani, like, and football, like the two athletes, the two sport athletes like that. I mean, they don't even exist anymore. I mean, it's why Travis Hunter, like I respect him trying to do both, there's not anyone else in league doing it. These one of one athletes, like those are the ones that press me the most, just both in the moment and then stepping back and appreciating it. I should have brought some, I agree with that. I should have brought some metrics on Shohei and see what he, his stuff's doing. I mean, his stuff is just like, it's gone up so much, of course, but it started high. It's never really. Yeah, the most steady trajectory of all time, or for like your first, what, eight years, 10 years in league. Well, how long can you, how long do you 20, 18? I think this is rookie. Yeah, seven, eight years. Yeah. So, I mean, he's like an annuity. It's just gone up like the most size. Yeah. The safest bet in trading cards is Otani. We should probably do that meter, like sometimes do like what are the last 10 years, like safest bet in sports cards. Yeah. Well, I'll do that for next week. I'll get some. I know. What else has happened? You know, we've got the playoffs going on. We've got L.A. And that was a crazy game in the night with Seattle and Blue Jays, right? Yeah. I mean, it was just one of those, it was, I mean, this is what October baseball went so fun. And you could, I could watch a baseball game and enjoy it, which I don't in the regular season. But I mean, if you're a Seattle fan, man, like, oh, that was a hard, that was a heartbreak. You're up to the world theories, and then to have it go like that. Yeah. And the Dodgers are like, whatever, man, like, like, it's inevitable. Like there's like inevitable, like the Dodgers just look guaranteed. I don't know, but maybe Blue Jays can put the damn bull runs on the board. We'll see. Yeah. Like that's what I just wrote. Well, I got the scans from this week for our bracket. We got that up our bracket. And then we have with this eye on case, as the total scans over the playoffs, we, that's another thing. But how it worked for us is whoever had the most scans advanced, not necessarily the team that won. So our world series, the L.A.X world series is Yankees Dodgers. Right now, the Yankees had 37,000, you can see it. And then the Dodgers 42. So that's pretty good. Pretty neck and neck. Okay. And a population advantage necessarily, both are large cities through the largest. So L.A. might get the pop just because they're still in the playoffs. But there's enough Yankees fans to maybe scratch back in this thing. Yeah. And the Blue Jays have 27,000. And if you think about like Toronto is a big city. It's a big city. But there's no other baseball teams in Canada. So like they're the Canadian national team. So it'll be interesting next week to see, you know, they just don't collect a lot of baseball cards up there. Like yeah, it's, I would say that there's a Canadian national happy with they call the Canadian national. First week of November in Toronto. And it's 65% hockey. It's whatever. 20% Pokemon and then like whatever. Yeah. Of course, Pokemon. But the L.A.X championship is down to New York and Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers. I wouldn't be surprised if we see both the L.A.X champion and the World Series champion be the same. If I was a betting man and I am, that's what I would probably put my money on. I agree. I think the writings on the wall on the L.A.X World Series and the real world series. Exactly. It's keep your counts up. Keep your numbers going. Again, the end of the World Series. Get that Zion case. L.A.X branded best cases in baseball, football, basketball, Pokemon. It doesn't matter. Everything you store your cards and got that sexy L.A.X logo on it, including, you know, that's when we're on the hat there. You know, like you, let me just say though, they, uh, hey, look at this guy. Yeah. Hey, we get, we get, we got, we're supporting the brand powered by L.A.X. But look, I wear this hat even when I'm not on the show, dude. This is like my favorite hat. I have to take it off while I'm painting here. The new studio though. I might know someone to get you can get you a couple more. I know. I don't want to paint on it. I'm just like, you know, you got those new designs too. I like the OG kind of, you know, you probably have some of these somewhere in the closet too. Yeah. I'll send them. We'll get a Bella one. So she can support it. Exactly. Uh, but yeah, be keeping up with your scans. We've got the end of the series total scans for that case. So keep up with that. Um, so I mean, from a hobby headlines standpoint, we've got tops now with the license back and basketball, launching, seen some of the early looks look pretty cool friends in the hobby. Degulars seem to be pretty pumped about it. I don't can't tell if that's just them pumping because they're tops dealers or if, uh, they're truly liking it. But it's interesting. And seeing the logos back on and instead of the wreck league jerseys, I'm happy. Let's see, uh, what tops and NBA logo again. Yeah. No, I think it's like consolidation sometimes is good and consistency. Uh, you know, Penini had a long run with it and, you know, I'm kind of excited to see, you know, all the, all the sports, you know, have some continuity to them and some variation, different things will be. I think that I know they will, but you know, I want to see the innovation and the fun, you know, like different parallels or different, I don't know, takes on things and, uh, I can't look at Wimbee and the wreck league jerseys anymore the same. You know, like, it's just, it did not, I had some cards. I was organizing the house. I'm a God, our house is a mess. Got a hundred thousand cards laying everywhere. It was actually picked up, like, tops, chrome, cosmic basketball or whatever. And it was like this six shot of Wimbee doing something ridiculous, but he was in the wreck league jerseys and I'm just like, yeah, I'm going to, I'm going to get a sticker and put like, you know, this first logo. That's it. But no more, uh, no more, no more tops coming out. I know it'll be a hot product because it's first year back. I don't know if that will make it more value. You must really like first year back in so long, but probably demand will be high. I would assume. Yeah. I mean, I'll, I'll get some numbers on that, um, scans. So yeah, I want to see what happens because like, Pokemon and basketball kind of like our right neck and neck. And when there's a Pokemon man release, it goes above basketball. So I'll see, it'll be interesting to see how popular the scans are for basketball. But I mean, I, I, I can't see it not being a great, great thing for tops and the collecting community. So I got a good story. Very short one. Um, you know, open packs with the boy. Nash and I were up. This is probably midnight on Saturday. Relate for him. And we're open Pokemon. And just to let me open like four packs each wasn't that many. It's like right before bedtime. And I don't know if you've ever heard, and I'm going to have the team share that's got did enough filming it. I'll tell you why. So I go, I have the team do some overlay here. Uh, with, if you're watching, you can see us open this pack. So we're opening white, uh, they have, uh, black and this black and white series. There's white flare, which is a pack that I was opening. It was a little tin that had two packs in it. So I'm opening the white flare pack. And I open it and Nash and I are talking about something. I'm halfway paying attention, expecting, you know, because with Pokemon, it's like, like eight or ninth card is like the ones where the good ones are or something. I flipped it over to start open to look at and I'm talking Nash. I looked down and it was an illustration rare card on the top, which I've never seen. And I go, and I just fan did enough to see like what the next one I had a God pack. I've heard of this, and never, we've opened up, we've, we've ripped 5,000 packs of Pokemon. I've been here. Who knows? Never gotten one. And it was a, you know, out of a two pack 10, white flare illustration, every, every card was illustration rare. All 12 of them were like high, like, you know, be in, I want to say, like, right in $175 in cards, uh, all in one pack. Oh, it was a true guy pack. What's the pack cost? Oh, six bucks. Do that was a million fines. You'd be really, really welcome. Yeah. But I got my Lutics app out and started scanning them. And sure enough, everyone came up first try. But nonetheless, we've got that on film. We'll have the team overlay that while describing it. But it was cool because what I did, Brian, I saw that and, you know, we weren't filming. It was late. We weren't open to tons. It wasn't like something we were normally filming. Once I was fanned in and saw, it's like, first I didn't even believe they existed. I just heard people talking. I'm like, that's, that's made up, man. That's made up. There, that's a marketing thing. Like, that's never happened. I was a non-believer. And once I saw it and knew it, I said, Nash, he said, what? And he's like, I said, I'm going to let you open this pack. I always saw the top card. I let him open. I filmed over the top, letting him go through the cards so that we get it on film. And it was pretty cool. It was like, that's amazing. That was fun. There's a story of the week. I'm going to open top's basketball. I bet. Yeah, you get 12 commons and one parallel that you hope's worth, you know, $10. Parallel is someone who retired 30 years ago. I don't know. The thing pisses me off the most is when you can pull a coach. Yeah, they don't, they only know to do that in basketball. They do it in football. I know that. It's like, okay. I'm like, I really don't want, uh, who is it? The bills on Marley. Yeah, Vincent, well, yeah, exactly. But like, Marv Levy or whatever, the bills coach, my 30 years, it's like, really? I mean, come on, man. I pull the Marv Levy. Like, oh, God. And then, you know, my kids, you know, one of my sons loves the, of course, loves, you know, my homes. And so we got an 80 read. That's about the only coach he's ever been happy about. But it's, uh, it's, it's not good. But any else this week, brother? No, I'm going to show my, like, the show until this week is, oh, yes. My buddy, Tom Fallow's, uh, the card, the carder. Yes. Love Tom. Oh, yeah. That is sick. One of one Jordan. That is badass right there. I love that. Yes. That one I picked up a couple years ago at the national. And, uh, and he's like, man, that thing is like almost tripled in price. And I'm like, all right, all right. How do you know what those are worth? Like, how does he know? I mean, like, I mean, honestly, he was, he did a lot for us at the national. He was doing like, free, like, sketches and everything. Yeah. And so at a, at a point, I felt like a little obligated to buy it. I mean, I came like, he's like, I'll give it to you for a thousand bucks. And I'm like, cool. I didn't really want it. But it was, you know, helping a buddy out. Yeah. Would it turn out to be a great thing. Time's like a fine. It's no planner. He's helping me. Exactly. Card card. Love Tom. He's been on this show. Good check when I was like episode three. I think we talked all about his art way. He does it. He's a true talent and a great guy on top of that. I love that. So I'm going to have to like, if you, um, if you want to like, give me something, you can, you can, you can give me that if you want to. I'll give you this. You got a lot of stuff that I have hard time choosing because you live in shite town. We have a Chicago old OG fan. Like, you know, like, he think was sweetness like autographed or something. I do. A jersey, but you're not giving that away. Yeah. He was awesome. Yeah. So the card, the cards will be up in our new office. We're moving in like a month, uh, month and a half. Unfortunately, this is turning into condos. We get booted. Um, but I'll have it. I'll have a better studio at the next place. Yeah. I love it, man. Cool, man. Lots of, uh, cool stuff this week. We've got the Movers, all QBs, Drake, May, Stafford, and of course, Danny Dimes, keeps on climbing the charts. I mean, I don't know if Danny, I mean, Danny Thompson, I don't know if that, I don't know if it's a bad, I like the nickname. I don't know if it's like meant to be negative or not, but he, he's laughing all the way to the bank. Next week, I'll be in Texas again. Yeah. So I'll be on the road. The LudEx card shop at the Ranger Stadium, Brian will be there having fun while we're just here in all, nowhere'sville. Brian always, you know, I live in that CEO life on the road doing cool things. It's, uh, it's fun, but I know it, it, it wears you out, but hey, you know, somebody's got to snap those necks and cast those checks, right? Yeah. That's it, man. Just, every day keep, keep doing it, my man. Well, you get a good luck with your, the rest of your move. I'm sure if you turn the camera around, it's a complete shit show. It is, uh, but we can't wait to show, bring that to life until everybody what we're doing here. I got some cool ideas, some cool things. Even this little set here is going to come to life over the next few weeks, but appreciate your brother. Awesome, buddy. It's always always a pleasure. I'll come down and visit when you guys get it all done. Yes, for sure. We'll do some kind of, Ludics grand opening fun party or something.
